Main results

JL Matu has established several joint venture companies from four different countries for Telia International.
Through these joint venture companies, he has won licenses for paging and GSM (mobile telephony) in several countries. Matu has established equity in those companies, which were subsequently sold by Telia with great profit. This resulted in an increase in Telia's shares during the period 2001 with the otherwise declining stock prices.
JL Matu has won projects from the U.S. Air Force and subsequently led them to profit from SEAG (Scandinavian Engineering & Architects Group). He has been Project Manager for Danida projects and other international projects with a subsequent good budgetary performance.

Management experience within telecommunications

After 20 years of experience in project management in consulting civil engineering firms, JL Matu worked for 15 years in telecommunications.

Deputy Sales Director at TDC Wholesale, Denmark (1999-2010)

JL Matu worked at TDC Wholesale (National) and had overall responsibility for sales and account management in Eastern Denmark for many years. Matu was responsible for Account managers in East Denmark. Customers were: Orange, Equant (Global One), National Railway Agency, Global Connect, Global Crossing, MCI Worldcom, AT & T, Tiscali, Tele1, GTS, Cybercity, Song, Telmore, Colt, Call me, DLG, Vestnes, Telecommunications Holding, Telogic , Destinations, Axiti, Cygate, KE Telecommunications, LIC, Danish Telecom and Smart Concept ApS.
The total turnover for the above clients was around DKK 950 million per year.
Products sold to these customers were interconnect, transmission, naked copper, 'collocation', reselling fixed and mobile, Internet, ISDN, ADSL, ATM, IP, VoIP and number portability.

Sales and Marketing Director for Kampsax Telecommunications Group (now Cowi) (1998-99)

Started Kampsax Telecom Group successfully to sell consultancy services to the country's largest telecommunication companies.

Member of the Board and management product team  in Telia, Denmark (1996-98)

Director of Business Development, Telia A / S, Denmark (1996-98)

During JL Matu´s tenure with Telia in Denmark, Matu launched telephony, Internet and Datacom. Won a license for the DCS 1800 (DKK 1.5 billion), tested and implemented products afterwards. There were established procedures to respond to Telia's strategies and objectives. JL Matu was responsible for buying two Internet companies.

Started two Joint Venture companies for JT Mobiles (now Airtel) in India - overall responsibility for "Business and Market Development", "Mergers and Acquisitions", "Business Planning and Control", responsible for cooperation between subsidiaries and parent company, product and rollout plan, recruitment of local / foreign personnel and outsourcing.

Regional Head, Tele Denmark International (1994-96)

Obtained licenses in rich Indian states for paging, GSM and basic telephony in competition with 21 international operators. Established Joint Venture companies with different business partners. Furthermore responsible for evaluating bids from several international suppliers. Participated in the "Steering Groups" and the "Board meetings"and appointed local and foreign staff.

During the above appointments JL Matu had experience in management of engineering projects (including the U.S. Air Force Bases, Thule and Sønder Strømfjord, Greenland), banks, commercial buildings, residential and industrial complexes, roads in the former West Germany (lived in Germany for 3 years), Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kuwait, Bhutan, India, Greenland and Denmark. He has worked with renowned architects such as Dissing & Weitling, KKET and Henning Larsen's office.
Matu has in these companies focussed on optimal prioritization of skills and resources with emphasis on effective outsourcing.
